Okay im looking at the California DMV site and found this page http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/brochures/fas
and it says to fill out a pdf application and then mail it.. so what im wondering is how much will all the fees be total if I need another Title and if I'm giving the car to a friend as a gift? I tried looking at the fees page but im not sure if there are other taxes needed like a smog fee or anything.. Help?Car Change of Ownership and Duplicate title in California?

The seller or the person giving does not have to pay taxes or title change the person who will be getting the car will have to pay and you do not have to pay a smog fee the person getting the car will, and if it has already been smog ed then it won't need it until the license is due again. but if you transfer it is 17 dollars to transfer the title and 8 dollars to transfer the smog license and 21 dollars for a new title all should be paid by the person getting the car.
