If a car has not been registered for a certain amount of time do the rules change on how you would get a title

my husband has been restoring his fire bird. for the last 2 years. he got the car from a buudy he was in the air force with. he lost the title when we moved . and did not register it in him name. he is not in the air force any more and can't find his old buddy. so what would we need to do to get the title now? my husband thought that if a car has not been registered for a certain amount of years . it might be easier to get a title is that true?If a car has not been registered for a certain amount of time do the rules change on how you would get a title
As long as you have the VIN from the car and a bill of sale from when he bought the car, he can go to the DMV and get a replacement title. If he has no bill of sale then perhaps the DMV can look up the buddy's last known address so that you can contact him to create one. If nothing else you might be able to get a salvage title.

Hope this helped. If a car has not been registered for a certain amount of time do the rules change on how you would get a title

I believe that you will have to file for a lost title through the DMV, or a %26quot;salvage%26quot; title. It doesn't matter what amount of time has transpired, the DMV will want you to prove ownership and possibly verify that the vehicle doesn't have a lein on it by running the VIN through a title company. If a car has not been registered for a certain amount of time do the rules change on how you would get a title
