In Texas a Friend sold a car, guy never changed titles now she has a toll bill?

ok in January 2009, my friend had a old 89 nissan that was broke. she sold it to a guy for 500 bucks.

she signed the title over, and he towed the car. Now a year later she got a bill in the mail from the tollway with a pic of that car running threw the tollway. Now she owes a bill. It seems this guy never changed titles. What can she do to get this to stop, we dont know anything about this guy just his name. And how is he driving around without having a registration sticker in his name since he hasnt changed titles. The old stickers expired in 04. This is in Texas. In Texas a Friend sold a car, guy never changed titles now she has a toll bill?
This is for everyone.

When you sell the car, take the registration out of the car, note on the back of the form that you sold the car - just like you would on a title, but no notary is needed. Send it in to the state DMV. That absolves you of any responsibility for the car, or the actions of the buyer. It tells you that on the back of the registration if you read it.

The reason he never got the car re-titled and registered is he avoids the sales tax on the transfer and the registration fees. As far as the state of Texas is concerned, YOU still own the car and the %26quot;buyer%26quot; is just borrowing the car. It's not likely that the car or driver is insured. Guess what happens when he is involved in an accident. You may have to hire an attorney to defend yourself because LEGALLY, you still own the car. You'll have to convince the court that you don't own the car.

Contact the TX DMV and find out what you need to do.
