Ok, you take the car and hide it so the guy cannot come and take it. Do not figure on driving it until you get the title and are able to legally register it.
Take the receipt for the $4500 that you paid him along with the $150 receipt you paid him for the car title change and go to the court and file a small claims action on him to release the title and refund the $150 (plus court costs) which you paid for him to transfer the title.
What, you didn't get any receipts? Then you are screwed. I bet he still owed money on the car so he walked away from a loan on the car and sold it to you. Good luck you are up the creek.
