Transferring Car Title when Selling a Vehicle?

When someone buys your car, how do you change the car title to under their name and is there anything DMV related besides the main selling?Transferring Car Title when Selling a Vehicle?
In most states, you simply sign over the title to the new owner, who then takes it to the state DMV office and gets a new registration, tag, and new title in his name. They may have to pay sales tax in addition to the official fees, depending on the state.Transferring Car Title when Selling a Vehicle?
Since you OBVIOUSLY have an internet connection, I'd check the BMV website for the state you are intending to make the sale in.

When I just sold my car, I pulled a bill of sale off the bmv website. I also pulled a mileage verification form off the bmv website. I filled the two things out. I also filled out the private party section on the title with the new owner's information.

Gave it to the buyer, and they had no problems getting the car licensed like 2 days later.

Good luck.Transferring Car Title when Selling a Vehicle?
All you have to do is go to the DMV website. Look up the state you will be selling you car in and print out the info. There are about 3-4 places where you will need to sign, and fill out odometer info along with other fun stuff. After that, give it to the buyer of your car, and your part of the deal is done. I do recommend however to take the plates off yourself, if they don't file the paper work, and get caught driving your old car with the plates you had still on it, it's your butt on the line.Transferring Car Title when Selling a Vehicle?
Yes you transfer the title into their name. You can get the paperwork from the county tax office. Otherwise they could end up running a bunch of red lights %26amp; the tickets will show up at your house.Transferring Car Title when Selling a Vehicle?
In CA, you sign over the title (Pink Slip) and give it to the new owner.

Detach the upper portion after filling in the seller's and buyers name, mileage, etc. Mail that to the DMV.

I just did this last week. I also had a Bill of Sale outlining the basics and that is was being sold as-is, where-is with all its faults. I had the new owner sign it agreeing that I wasn't liable for the smog check, licensing, damage, or state of the vehicle in any way whatsoever.
